Situation
Pixology produce
white label solutions for major retailers to print digital images via the
Internet or through in-store kiosks. Pixology wanted to expand this to
include printing direct from mobile phones. In 2007, Pixology was acquired
by PNI Digital Media.
Solution
I
was initially responsible for evolving the company’s technical strategy
for mobile applications including issues such as platforms, tools,
competitors and markets (US, EMEA and Japan).
I
subsequently specified, designed, coded and tested PhonePrint for three
major UK and US clients. PhonePrint uploads images/orders via GPRS/3G for
photographic printing. The target phone included the Nokia 3650, 6600,
7610 and 6630 (3G). All development was performed using Borland C++
BuilderX 1.2/1.5. Applications were Symbian Signed.
I also wrote core parts of a US patent application for PhonePrint. I also
had Key involvement in meetings, proposals and implementation which
resulted in a partnership with Nokia Multimedia division.
